Newsletter April 4th-8th

Ms. Hewitt’s Fourth Grade Class Newsletter
Saturday, April 2nd, 2016

Good Afternoon Guardians and Students,

Hope you all had a great time relaxing, and enjoying time with your family and friends.  Hope you all were able to grab a fun, engaging book too and read. I look forward to seeing all of your children on Monday to work towards our 3rd trimester goals. Only 11 weeks left together!

Pioneer Day
Pioneer Day is a fun-filled culminating activity for fourth grade.  We are still getting approval for the event date, but plan to attend a Parent Information Meeting on Monday, April 11th at 5:30 p.m. in Mrs. Chastain's classroom.  Because the success of this event is contingent upon the help from many volunteers (both for at-home projects and on event day), we are asking that all fourth grade parents are asked to attend this meeting. We will be answering many of the questions that come up about this on-site field lesson that allows our students to experience life in another era.

Parent-Teacher conference
Thank you to all the families who came and supported their children during the Student-led conferences. I was so proud of how they used their chromebooks to share their growth and multiple measures of data.

Clubs Volunteers
WCS and BASE are piloting an after-school club program that provides free, quality activities for students. We are looking for volunteers to lead a club for a one-hour time slot, once a week for six weeks - May 2nd through June 13th. A flier was distributed to go home in backpacks today. Please also include this information in your newsletters. While we are asking for parent volunteers, we would LOVE to have teachers share their gifts and talents in an after-school club, as well!  Please complete the registration form HERE

Spring Picture Day
OPTIONAL Spring Picture Day on Thursday, April 7th:  Spring picture day will be optional this year.  All students will have free dress on April 7th, but only students who have prepaid AND filled out this form will be sent to the photographer to have their picture taken. Picture packets will go home next week. If you would like to have your student’s Spring Picture taken by Lifetouch, please fill out this form AND prepay online or send payment in the packet.
