Good Afternoon Guardians and Students,


Parent-Teacher conference
Student-led conferences are next week and it is our goal at WCS to have 100% attendance. Click here to schedule your student led parent-teacher conference, if you haven’t already done so, or to check your time. I look forward to sharing your child's progress with you! 4th Grade Award Assembly is on Friday, March 18th 8:30-9:00 a.m. Due to conferences we have early out Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Clubs Volunteers
WCS and BASE are piloting an after-school club program that provides free, quality activities for students. We are looking for volunteers to lead a club for a one-hour time slot, once a week for six weeks - May 2nd through June 13th. A flier was distributed to go home in backpacks today. Please also include this information in your newsletters. While we are asking for parent volunteers, we would LOVE to have teachers share their gifts and talents in an after-school club, as well!  Please complete the registration form HERE

Spring Break
Spring Break is March 21st through April 1st which means we will have NO SCHOOL for those two weeks. This is a great time to relax, enjoy family and friends, and to read and work towards goals.

Spring Picture Day
OPTIONAL Spring Picture Day on Thursday, April 7th:  Spring picture day will be optional this year.  All students will have free dress on April 7th, but only students who have prepaid AND filled out this form will be sent to the photographer to have their picture taken. Picture packets will go home next week. If you would like to have your student’s Spring Picture taken by Lifetouch, please fill out this form AND prepay online or send payment in the packet.

Language Arts


  • Digital Book Clubs round 3 will be end this week! Students meet with their groups Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Students will  come prepared with 3 questions written down on a post it with the page number. They will take notes digitally and have their vocabulary and page numbers on their group doc. Friday, March 18th students will take an AR test on their book.  
  • This week- Spelling City List #19- Complete all activities before Friday to be prepared for the test on Friday in class.
  • Vocabulary:  Earthquake and flood. Use SpellingCity and Quizlet through Google Classroom to study for these words.


Math
IXL Strands- Complete IXL strands 30 minutes a week is the minimum requirement.
IXL that should be completed from last week  is: N.1-N.7
Monday-Lesson 6- Convert Customary Units of Weight and Lesson 7- Convert Units of Time
Tuesday- Quiz (5-7) Lesson 8-Display Measurement Data in a Line Plot
Wednesday- Lesson 9- Solve Measurement Problems and Lesson 10: Problem Solving
Thursday- Practice Test- study and review
Friday- Chapter 11 Test.


Encourage your children to utilize our many math resources XtraMath,  Mangahigh our school ID is 67993,  McGraw Hill, Front Row, and Prodigy!


Science
We continue investigating how natural processes shape the surface of the earth and the ensuing effect on humans. Some of the essential questions that will be explored next week include: How can we see evidence of changes in the earth over time? What story of the earth can rocks and fossils tell us? What slow and fast processes change the earth's surface? How are humans affected by these processes? We also started learning about earthquakes and next week will be on volcanoes!


Art

  • During spring break, WAVE has partnered with the Sacramento Valley Astronomical Society to present A Night Under the Stars!  SVAS will be bringing their telescopes on campus to view the night sky and all that it holds.  Mark your calendar for Friday, March 25th at 8:30pm.  We’re looking forward to star gazing with you under clear skies!
